Description

The Little Dumbbell Nebula, also known as Messier 76 is a planetary nebula in northern constellation Perseus. It was discovered by Pierre Méchain in 1780 and included in Charles Messier's catalog of comet-like objects as number 76. When looking at my individual subs, I mistakenly thought this would a straightforward target to process. On the contrary, this little devil gave me fits. I did end up shooting some short exposures to do an HDR composition. Even then, certain areas were blown out so HDR Multiscale Transformation helped to tame things a bit.
